Institutional Effectiveness uses Qualtrics Survey Research Suite for our in-house surveys, and we have an enterprise license that allows University faculty and students to use it free of charge. Qualtrics is an easy-to-use, full-featured, web-based tool for creating and conducting on-line surveys. Some features of Qualtrics include: a Quick Survey Builder to accelerate survey creation; a Survey Library with customizable templates; a survey distribution tool; a tool to display survey results; and an export data feature.
To use Qualtrics, all you need to do is go to this website: www.richmond.qualtrics.com. This will take you to the UR Single Sign On (SSO) page. Enter your UR NetID and password and it will automatically log you into the UR Qualtrics site. That’s all you need to do to get an account and access the site. Once you have an account, you can conduct as many on-line surveys as you want! No limits on the number of surveys or the number of respondents.
Faculty members who want to share surveys with students, can do so easily. Just go into Qualtrics and activate the “collaborate” function for each survey. Visit Qualtrics University for the step-by-step instructions on how to do this. Note that you decide which permissions each person has, so if you don’t want anyone to access the data, do not select that option.
Qualtrics offers extensive on-line training materials for faculty and students to use to get started:
